Green Art Expo

No open call. Just an open door. Bring whatever you consider sustainable art.

Green Art Expo was a one-night exhibition, performance programme and celebration at Ekserserhuset in Kristiansand.

Anyone was welcome to arrive with an artwork, performance, dance or other contribution. What counted as green or sustainable art was left entirely to the participants.

JAM PUBLIC prepared a framework that included inflatable pedestals, performances, the premiere of Green Dogmas, a song performed collectively and music by DJ Grydeklud. As people arrived with their contributions, the programme and exhibition continued to grow.

The event became a colourful and unpredictable meeting between different ideas of what environmentally engaged art could be—from serious proposals to playful, strange and celebratory responses.

Green Art Expo took place on 26 November 2022 and concluded The Green Artist, a JAM PUBLIC pilot project exploring art and sustainability.

Developed by JAM PUBLIC in collaboration with Ulrik Waarli Grimstad, Thomas Askeland Svendsen and Kristin Øygarden. Supported by Arts Council Norway’s Kulturelt Drivhus pilot programme.
