Tour de Sørlandet
A Pop-Up Art Institution
The Inflatable Museum is both a physical place and a mobile space of possibility, making it possible to present art in ceremonial surroundings—out there, where people live.
The museum opened with great fanfare in the summer of 2021. Shortly afterwards, it went on tour in Southern Norway, visiting Kilen Finsland (3 August), Åros Strand (4 August), Sandøya by Søgne Old Rectory (5 August), and Odderøya (7 August).
The museum moves from place to place, inflates itself and sets up camp in meaningful locations among people and nature—far from the city centre and far from the usual focus of museums.
This is not an ordinary museum. But you are welcome to dress up for this social experiment. The Inflatable Museum holds an exhibition opening throughout all of its opening hours: tall glasses, canapés, speeches and music. And, of course, a café and museum shop!
