City Train
All aboard the animal safari. We’re heading into the wild, where humans roam free.
City Train is a wearable sculpture and moving performance developed as part of the Reversed Zoo universe.
The guide wears the locomotive, while audience members become animals and step inside lightweight wagons made from cardboard boxes. Together, the train leaves the zoo and travels into the city to observe humans in their natural habitat.
For its first presentation, the train guide was played by actor Ulrik Waarli Grimstad, who was given free rein to improvise each safari and interpret the behaviour of the humans encountered along the way:
They may be smiling, but please be careful. They probably just want to eat you.
The train was first presented during P-ART-Y’s Reversed Zoo edition in Kristiansand in 2026. It later travelled to Reversed Zoo at OpenArt in Örebro, Sweden, where the role of the guide was taken over by another actor.
